Utah - Here we come!!

Dear Girls,

I know that it has been a long, long, long, time since I have posted any
blog. Time just seems to get away from me....as you all get older you will
all understand. I believe that this is all of our "swan" song from Bonita
Valley, let's make it the most memorable and win the 2009 14U National
Championship
. We have reached goals one and two now we have to achieve goal
number three. I am so proud of each and every one of you. You have all
worked hard this summer and have sacrificed many things. I hope you have had
fun this summer all-star season. I hope you have learned some things and
have grown as a person and a super softball player. Myself and the coaches
can honestly say that this group of girls are all tremendous young ladies
and athletes. We have enjoyed working with you and we have had lots of fun.

Don't forget......
"Offense wins games. Defense wins Championships!!"
Let's go BV!! Let's take it all in Utah!!

Finalist in Santee

Girls,
Yes we lost a game......truly no big deal......remember what our goals are for the season.  These tounaments are preparing us for our goals.  Losing the way we did was somewhat bizarre oh well we can learn from it and move on.....let's brush it off and move on to the next tounament in Los Alamitos.  I am so very proud of each and everyone of you...the way you all work together, pick each other up, and the way you all seem to get along.
Please think about these words for the week......
If you give 100%, and still come up short on the scoreboard, there is nothing to be ashamed of, learn from it and don't make excuses.............even if the umpire does make a mistake............good thing it wasn't the District Championship game.
And finally,
"Never let defeat have the last word."
Let's go BV.
Yours truly,
Coach Mary Lou

PYL 14U Champs

Girls,

Way to bring home the first place trophy. You all did an outstanding job this weekend. The coaches, the parents and I are all so proud of all of you. The way you all play on the field is like a well oiled machine. Our team is successful because you are all doing your jobs not only in games but in practices. So far all of the hard work is paying off. Our next stop and step is Santee. Now we all know what Santee and all the other teams for that matter want to do to a team like ours........I think we all know........well anyway let's continue our winning ways and bring home the championship once again this weekend.

Here are some words for this week:
"There's no force stronger than the surge of confidence that comes with
accomplishment. Once started, there's no stopping success."
Let's work hard in practice this week and show those teams in Santee that BV is the BEST. Offense wins games but Defense wins Championships.

2009 14U PQ Champs

Girls,
I just wanted to say congratulations for winning the PQ Memorial Tournament. You all put forth great effort and had great determination. The coaches and I all liked how you worked together and played really outstanding softball.

Many people throughout the weekend complimented our team and how good you all are. They commented on what great sportsmanship you displayed and on what great hitters you all are. Keep up the outstanding work.

Here are some words to think about:

"People who enjoy what they're doing, invariably do it well."

I think you all had fun this weekend. It was definitely a great championship win. Have a good day off today, see you all at practice on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

Coach,
Mary Lou

HERE WE GO!

To the 14U all star team, coaches, team moms, parents and fans:

We are two days away from beginning out 2009 tournament season. We have
been coming together at practice really well. Everyone the girls, the coaches, the team moms and of course the parents have been doing an awesome job. I am really excited about this team and feel really good that we will be able to reach all of our goals.

A big focus to winning will be how well we play as a team. Here is a quote
to think about.

"Teamwork is the merging of the skills and talents of a group of people into
a single force much stronger than that of any individual. This force is
unbeatable, it enables those who work together to win together.
"

Let's play hard and have fun. Also remember offense wins games, defense
wins championships.

Let's go BV.

2009 All-Star Start

Girls,
Just a quick note to let you know how excited myself and the coaching staff are about this team for the summer tournament season.  We think that we will be very competitive and will be able to dominate at all the tournaments.

We start off at PQ in a couple of weeks so lets work hard together to prepare for out first 2009 tournament.  Think about the goals we have set for the season --- to win districts, states and nationals.

Here are some words to think about:
"The loftier the goals, the higher the risk, the greater the glory."
Have a super weekend -- good luck to the teams in the championship games.  Be ready and prepared for our first practice on Monday.  See you all there.

Go BV.

Bonita Valley -v- Cavaleras

Down by 6 at the top of 6th inning.  Scored 1 run in 6th.  Our number 12 batter Cassie Bolin got on with a single, followed by number 13 batter Jodi Adair who hit a double past the shortstop to start the rally.  The top of the line up continued the rally with Claire Winn hitting a 2run RBI , Erika Forget, and Brianna Conser loaded the bases.  Lorena Kellogg hit a triple to the fence scoring a 3 run RBI.  She then stole home on a passed ball which put BV ahead 7-6.  Kylie Steagall battled at the plate with a 9 pitch at bat.  She was fielded out for the 3rd out in the inning.

Kacie Morton relieved an injured Cassie Bolin on the mound who took a hard line drive in the ribs.  Cassie finished pitching the inning and was able to continue with a clutch hit at the top of the 7th.  Kacie caused the batters to fly out to Allana Hille at shortstop, Brianna Conser in Center Field, and the third out was a strong defensive fielded out between shortstop and first baseman Sonia Mazon.

Bonita Valley came from behind for a great win.  They are 2-0 in pool play with the third game tomorrow.
